UPP is seeking to hire an ambitious and enthusiastic graduate who is keen to develop a career in Town Planning and who is committed to undertaking a Level 7 RTPI-accredited Apprenticeship which will ultimately lead to the opportunity to become RTPI accredited.

**About us**:
UPP is an integrated Architecture and Town Planning consultancy based in Camden, NW1.The practice works on a variety of projects across Greater London and the South East including minor and major new build residential developments, community and leisure schemes, complex refurbishments & conversions as well as extensions to existing commercial and residential properties. Our clients are primarily property investment, development, management and leisure companies as well as educational institutions.

**About the role**:
The training provider for the apprenticeship will be UCL and will require one day per week full-time study at the university. A job offer will be made on the condition that the applicant will secure a place to study at UCL.

The role of the Apprentice Town Planner will be to support the Town Planning team at UPP across a range of different schemes with some of the main responsibilities including:

- Responding to initial client enquiries
- Undertaking planning research in order to better respond to those enquiries
- Assisting with site appraisals
- Liaison with clients and other team members
- Undertaking planning history searches and policy analysis
- Assisting with preparation of Planning Statements
- Assisting with assessing planning potential and formulating planning strategies
- Assisting with preparation of Planning Appeals
- Liaising and negotiating with planning officers at Local Planning Authorities

**Skills and Qualities we are looking for**:

- An RTPI accredited Honours Degree and/or Diploma
- Excellent report writing skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgements
- Excellent verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate with both colleagues, clients and Council officers - on the phone and at meetings.
- Team Working - good natured and considerate of others, thriving on working collaboratively.
- Self motivated
- Wanting to learn and develop
- Ability to communicate in fluent verbal and written English essential
- Comfortable taking responsibility and working independently
- Excellent organisational skills - ability to prioritise

**What we can offer you**:

- Flexible working arrangements with the option to work 1-2 per week

- Annual Leave: 23 days + Bank Holidays + 1 additional day leave per year following 2 years of continuous employment. (Note, 3 days must be taken between the Christmas and New Year period when the office is closed)
