- We are looking for a motivated person to join our Asset Performance (AP) team. You will help to ensure that flood risk is effectively managed to protect communities at risk of flooding. You will engage with our customers to help initiate projects and provide great service and play a key role in the smooth running of our departments. We have an overview of flood risk across the North East through strategic planning, understanding of flood risk, permitting and enforcement of flood risk activities, influencing development, management of our flood risk asset portfolio and responding to flood incidents.
- Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role

The team
- The team is responsible for ensuring flood and coastal risk management assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, effective and efficient manner to reduce flood risk.

Experience/skills required
- You’ll be qualified to degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline and potentially have or be working towards a professional accreditation. Most important is your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to learn combined with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
- You’ll have real desire and commitment to build relationships with our customers and internal teams to achieve our goal of protecting people and property from flooding.
- Knowledge and/or experience of the following are desirable:
- Managing multiple priorities and competing demands
- Working & communicating with a range of customers and partners.
- Ability to work as part of a team or on your own
- A good understanding of appropriate safe working practices
- River processes, hydraulics, hydrology and the management of flood risk
