Sarc Specialist Sexual Violence Counsellor

Hope House Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is a service in Gloucestershire offering emotional and practical support; as well as medical care to anyone who has experienced sexual violence or sexual abuse.
We are looking for a caring and motivated individual to join our team as a Specialist Sexual Violence Counsellor (22.5 hours Monday to Friday).
The post holder will clinically assess clients who have been referred by the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) or the Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVA); following a disclosure of a sexual assault or rape.
Early Intervention, Pre-Trial, Post-trial/Post-decision counselling will be provided for clients who are either engaged with the Criminal Justice System, or who have recently experienced sexual assault but do not wish to engage with the police or criminal justice process.
The post holder will provide clinical supervision for staff members working within the SARC and Sexual Health service.
Please note that Therapeutic Counselling membership through the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP); or working towards this registration, is a requirement.
To carry out initial assessments and select appropriate therapeutic treatments to clients referred by the SARC and ISVA team. These clients may present with multiple and complex issues.
To formulate and implement plans for therapeutic interventions using a psychotherapeutic approach to manage a patient’s identified problems and/or behaviours using an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing evidence-based methods.
To comply with Crown Prosecution Pre
- Trial Therapy guidelines for victims of sexual violence.
To deliver therapy sessions in person, over the phone and online.
To refer on for other specialist assessment and intervention, within primary or secondary care; through assessment or as an outcome of treatment interventions
To liaise with the safeguarding services, when appropriate, and ensure follow-up of the concern.
Work autonomously within professional guidelines ( British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
To provide 1-2-1 and group clinical supervision to SARC and Sexual Health staff.
