We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Hostel Receptionist to join our team in Edinburgh. As a Hostel Receptionist, you will be the face of our hostel, providing exceptional customer service to guests, assisting with their needs, and ensuring their stay is comfortable and enjoyable. This role requires excellent communication skills, organisational abilities, and a passion for creating a welcoming atmosphere.
As the only Full-Time member on the team you will support the front office manager in their duties. Deputizing in their absence during holidays or days off.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Guest Check-In and Check-Out**: Greet guests upon arrival, check them in efficiently, and provide all necessary information about their stay. Assist with check-out procedures, including processing payments and handling any inquiries.
**Customer Service**: Provide outstanding customer service by addressing guest queries, concerns, and requests promptly and courteously. Offer recommendations and information about local attractions, restaurants, and events.
**Reservations**: Manage hostel reservations, including booking, modifying, and canceling guest reservations both in person and over the phone. Ensure accurate and up-to-date room availability.
**Safety and Security**: Monitor guest access to the hostel and ensure that security procedures are followed. Address any security issues or emergencies as they arise.
**Cash Handling**: Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and receipts. Reconcile the daily cash drawer and report any discrepancies.
**Collaboration**: Collaborate with other hostel staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. Communicate effectively with housekeeping and maintenance teams to address guest needs.
**Compliance**: Ensure compliance with all hostel policies, procedures, and regulations. Adhere to health and safety standards and emergency protocols.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in a accommodation reception is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using computers and booking systems.
- Knowledge of Edinburgh's attractions, public transportation, and local services is a plus.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
