The Band 7 SCAMHS Non-Medial Prescriber will support the Service Manager and Locality Team Lead by overseeing the effective delivery of the locality service, and by providing expert clinical and medical decision making to the clinical team.

The post holder will be able to provide senior knowledge and experience within the team and take a senior position in the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to formulate & implement care plans and consider prescribing options. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and prescribing in complex situations that require diplomacy, negotiation skills, and sound clinical judgement and to include assessment of risk, risk mitigation and a holistic assessment of needs. As well as this, they will also be required to provide direct support to junior members of the team and act as a senior member of the service area.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of high-quality mental health services for Children and Young People within S-CAMHS. This will be achieved by working primarily within the locality S-CAMHS team and supporting county teams within the service working across the service area. The post holder will be expected to provide holistic assessment of children and young people experiencing ongoing mental health needs, manage risks associated and prescribe accordingly. The post holder will work to agreed job plan which will include holding a small number of CTP, undertake caseload management and running prescribing clinics primarily in-county or across the service area as the need arises.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

- Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
