Job Title:
Team Member/Barista
**Job Description**:
As a barista, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages and other menu items in a fast-paced environment.
Your duties will include:
Customer Service:
Greeting customers with a friendly demeanor, taking orders accurately, and providing recommendations based on customer preferences.
Coffee Preparation:
Skilfully preparing espresso-based beverages and specialty drinks according to established recipes and standards.
Quality Control:
Ensuring the quality and consistency of all beverages by properly calibrating equipment, monitoring brewing temperatures, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the workstation.
Menu Knowledge:
Familiarising yourself with the coffee shop's menu offerings, including seasonal specials, and effectively communicating menu options to customers.
Cash Handling:
Operating the cash register, processing transactions accurately, and handling cash and credit card payments efficiently.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the coffee shop, including the brewing area, equipment, and customer seating areas.
Stocking and Inventory:
Monitoring inventory levels of coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies, and restocking as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Team Collaboration:
Working collaboratively with other team members to ensure excellent service, supporting coworkers during busy periods, and communicating effectively to maintain a positive work environment.
Adherence to Policies:
Following all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, food handling guidelines, and customer service protocols.
Qualifications & Experience:
Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required; training will be provided. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction processing. Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso machine operation is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and move swiftly between tasks. Capability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Stamina to work in a high-energy environment for the duration of shifts.
