You will be contributing to the Council's Health and Safety advisory service by supporting managers in fulfilling their statutory duties and also support the Health and Safety Manager in developing Policy and setting priorities for the team.

Salary is offered at points within these bands depending on experience:
**Advisor**: £36,298 - £39,493
**Senior Advisor**: £40,478 - £43,516

**What will you be doing?**

On a daily basis you will be actively supporting all our departments by monitoring health and safety performance and intervening as necessary to ensure statutory requirements are upheld.

Travelling to various office locations and sites within the South Gloucestershire area you will be supporting our internal management at all levels to implement policy and to manage risk where policy or standards may require interpretation.

In the role you will develop monitoring systems and undertake health & safety audits of service areas, including maintained schools to monitor risk management and statutory compliance and providing reports to the Corporate Health & Safety Manager.

You will liaise with external bodies, such as enforcement agencies (HSE, Fire Service) partner organisations and be communicating with our internal teams and departments of the council, employee representatives, Trade Union representatives, elected members and advising health & safety committees.

Every day is different giving you the opportunity to take ownership of managing your own workload and monitoring deadlines and key factor changes, being able to take in your stride unexpected changes resulting in different priorities and challenges faced.

ºAs the Advisor you will be required to:
ºcontribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, control measures and guidance.Also accident/incident investigations, including cases of work-related ill health, making recommendations in the form of reports on appropriate action.
ºsupport managers with investigations undertaken by statutory bodies such as HSE and Fire Service.
ºAs the Senior Advisor you will be required to:
ºMonitor health & safety performance within the Council’s service areas, to include screening and processing accident forms, developing and reviewing monitoring techniques, direct monitoring and reporting on actions, escalation of non-compliance concerns.
ºMentor and support other team members

**What we need from you**

It is essential that you must have good knowledge of health & safety legislation and sufficient practical experience in a health and safety advisory role.

We require you to have the ability to communicate with employees and managers at all levels within the organisation, including the development and delivery of training, providing information, and influencing people or groups

**Advisor**:
You must have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent relevant qualification. You will also have the appropriate level of membership IOSH (graduate) or equivalent and engaged in a relevant programme of CPD & IPD.
It is essential that you have experience of working in a health & safety capacity over the range of areas in relation to providing advice monitoring and policy development with demonstrating excellent knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.

**Senior Advisor**

ºYou must have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification and must be a Chartered Member of IOSH and participation in CPD
ºIt is essential that you have experience in a health & safety advisory role within a large organisation with a broad range of service activities and technical risks related to the Council’s activities, such as social care, civil construction, horticultural services, facility services, diverse office accommodation, and customer facing services
ºYou will require experience in delivering effective presentations to Health & Safety Consultative Committee meetings.
ºFor the role you must have well-developed risk assessment, auditing, inspection, and investigation skills
