**CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST**

**Overview**
Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Psychologist to work within their multi-disciplinary team and conduct children's ADHD and Autism assessments as well as therapeutic work.
The post holder/s will work within their multi-disciplinary team and conduct children's ADHD and Autism assessments, along with another member of the team. There will also be some therapeutic work required as well as parental support.
All of their children's assessments are multidisciplinary and you will be working alongside another experienced clinical member of the team.
**About the organisation**
They are a friendly, established team, conveniently located on the outskirts of Oxford. They are also considering opening a branch clinic in the Bath/Bristol area. Since opening in 2016, demand for their high-quality services has increased through reputationand they have close contacts with GPs and a number of renowned independent schools.
Their team includes Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Adult Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, an Assistant Psychologist, Autism and ADHD coaches and a specialist teacher. They are all experienced in the assessment and management of neurodevelopmentalconditions.
They conduct ADHD and Autism assessments across the lifespan, provide medication follow-up appointments and general psychiatric services. They offer psychological interventions and post-diagnostic support to patients and their families.
They have carried out >200 children's assessments commissioned by the NHS and currently hold an NHS contract for adult ADHD assessments.
The Centre is CQC approved and they hold regular training sessions for their staff.

**Person Specification**
**Qualifications and Professional Registration**
Essential
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or masters equivalent in Clinical Psychology), appropriate HCPC registration, and demonstrable practice in this field.
Registered with the appropriate clinical specialist body and evidence of continuing professional development as required.
Desirable
Training and/or experience in autism specific assessments e.g. ADOS-2
**Knowledge**
Essential
Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and the evidence base for the relevant treatment of children and young people with ASD and associated mental health difficulties.
Knowledge of psychological assessment and clinical psychometrics.
Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
Doctoral level knowledge of psychological research methodology and complex statistical analysis.
Knowledge of factors affecting acceptability and accessibility of mental health care.
Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and young people's mental health issues and child protection.
**Experience**
Essential
Experience of receiving clinical supervision across a range of client needs.
Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of children and young people with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature with ASD and associated mental health difficulties.
Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience.
Experience of developing and carrying out research projects.
Desirable
Specialised experience in the diagnosis of children with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.
**Skills**
Essential
To deliver psychological therapy across cultural and other differences
To select and administer specialist psychological assessments, interpreting and integrating complex data that require analysis, interpretation and comparison, drawn from several sources
To communicate skilfully and sensitively complex and sensitive information with clients, carers and colleagues overcoming barriers to communication including sensory, and emotional difficulties, cultural differences and hostility to or rejection of information.
To plan and schedule assessment and interventions for individual clients and groups and carers, and to organise meetings such as CPAs and case reviews
To plan allocation of tasks to assistant psychologists.
To be skilled in the administration of psychometric and neuropsychological tests, including those that require complex manipulation of test materials.
Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data.
Desirable
Experience in teaching other professionals in the field of neurodevelopmental conditions.
**Abilities**
Essential
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles.
Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate to support and maintain clinical practice consistent with BPS and HCPC standards.
Ability to maintain concentration and to remain in restricted positions for long periods during observations, assessments and psychological interventions, and to deal with unexpected interruptions or changes during these.
Ability to manage emotionally stressful situations such as working with victims of abuse or trauma, or with challenging behaviour.

Ability to manage verbal aggression and hostility directed at self.
