A fantastic and exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic, energetic and innovative Public Health Consultant to join a small Public Health Team at the Royal Free Group to help us shape and implement our new, innovative programme - The Faculty of Population Health.

Your role will include working across a wide range of stakeholders and our staff to co-produce and implement training modules for the Faculty based on the Making Every Contact Counts concept, brief intervention advice and guidelines and the Lifestyle Medicine Framework. You will work closely with the Deputy Director of Public Health, public health registrars and a Fellow in Population Health.

You will have good interpersonal skills, be a strategic thinker, good communicator and influencer, with a track record of excellent partnership working, delivering and improving public health outcomes and being a confident whole system leader. NHS and healthcare public health experience would be an asset.

**The post holder will be expected**:

- To provide public health leadership and strategic support to the Royal Free Group, with a particular focus on the Faculty of Population Health;
- To develop and oversee the implementation of the workplan for the Faculty of Population Health for RFL and NMUH;
- To deputise for the RFL Deputy Director of Public Health;
- To develop and support a network of behavioural change (MECC) facilitators;
- To develop and implement an evaluation framework for the Faculty of Population Health, in collaboration with local universities;
To develop productive partnerships and build networks with senior leaders at the RFL and the NMUH and also work with other acute trusts to learn best practice and implement them at the RFL and NMUH.

Public Health Team at the Royal Free is well established, small and enthusiastic team of Director and deputy Director of Public Health, fellow of the Population Health and PH registrars. We pride ourselves with great work ethic while always striving to have fun.
1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- This post does not have direct clinical responsibilities.

2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS
- Lead on the promotion of World Class care values, ensuring that the workplace culture is patient-centred, involves service users and residents, responds positively to feedback from user groups and promotes teamwork across services.
- Ensure that changes to services are fully communicated both within the organisation with staff and patients and residents and with external partners, including the Integrated Care Board, Local Authorities, GPs, Commissioners.
- Ensure that residents’ and patients’ health outcomes are considered and improved in all of the public health work programme and inequalities are reduced.

3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
- Be responsible for leading on development of the Faculty of Population Health, working closely with the Royal Free Academy and Workforce as well as all staff groups.
- Be responsible for interpreting national guidance and translating it into service development plans to align national direction/strategies and local priorities, considering the necessary changes in current practice and resource implications.
- Identify areas of service improvement opportunities and lead on business case production, agreement and implementation. Use change management skills and techniques to lead the implementation and development of the Quality Improvement Programmes (QIs) within the directorate/s.
- Undertake service planning and ensure this is aligned to the Group Clinical Strategy.
- Oversee future departmental policy and planning developments including service line plans and reviews.

4. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL RESOURCES

The postholder will
- Manage the Faculty of Population Health Grant and be an authorised signatory.
- Be responsible for the Royal Free Charity Grant administration, regular quarterly reporting and effectively working within resource
- Be able to develop business cases for further investment in population health priorities.
- Develop the use of patient level costing and service line reporting to support and inform financial management.

5. RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEADING AND MANAGING

The postholder will
- be responsible for managing a team of project manager/s and behavioural change (MECC) facilitators who will train the wider workforce across the RFL and NMUH.
- be responsible for developing, leading and implementing the workplan for the Faculty of Population Health across RFL and NMUH.
- Ensure regular 1:1s take place and appraisal is carried out for staff and training needs are identified within
- Manage mandatory training levels and ensure that directorate records are kept up to
- Be accountable for managing absence rates within the team they are responsible for.
