**Ferry Electrical/Electronic Technician | Torpoint, Cornwall | £29,943.72-based on 37 hrs/week + 5.5 hrs/week contracted over time, inclusive of allowances | There will be ‘call outs’ outside of your normal working hours**
Our client provides a service to approximately 2.5 million vehicles and 750k pedestrians and cyclists per year.Three ferries provide a 24-hour service, 365 days a year as an essential transport link for Southeast Cornwall’s peninsula to Devon and in particularPlymouth. This service provides a critical link to the road transport network supporting emergency services, residents, businesses and tourism.We are the busiest estuarial vehicular crossing in the United Kingdom.
You will have strong organisational skills and a flexible approach to support the delivery of daily planned maintenance and projects as well as the ability to work in a varied team is essential, but must also be capable of safe loan working.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of working in the largest chain ferry in the UK.
**Are you the right person for the job?**
- Apprenticeship in Electrical Maintenance or Minimum NVQ Levels 2 or 3 in Electrical Maintenance/Electronics or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of Health and Safety regulations & practises, and Safe Systems of Work
- Demonstrable effective communication skills, both verbally and written, are essential
- Able to interpret and understand electrical drawings
- Good attention to detail including accurate record keeping, report writing, and presentation of maintenance records
- Good IT skills, fluent in Microsoft word / Excel / Teams
- Ability to prioritise own workload and to meet timescales
- Pro-active and assertive team player, with a positive “can do” attitude
- Understand the importance of the Ferry service to the local community and the wider economy
**What will your role as a Ferry Electrical/Electronic Technician look like?**
- The maintenance team is central to the safe, reliable and efficient service delivery of our client and you will be asked to contribute to developing and delivering innovative solutions to ensure that the service is as efficient as possible with the minimumloss of service to the public
- The Electrical/Electronic Technicians are required to support, coach and mentor the Technical Apprentice
