Environment and Regulatory Lead

Support in the risk management processes related to process environmental protection including ensuring business has adequate policies, strategies and technical expertise in place to effectively manage operational risks and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practices. To contribute to the design, development and implementation of company environmental protection and management programmes and initiatives.

Accountabilities
- Safe Terminal and Operations (including COMAH Major Accident Prevention and Mitigation)
- Provide professional competent advice to management related to environmental protection and management matters.
- Support the environmental aspects of the COMAH report, associated intervention inspections and actions
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the EA and local councils for all aspects of environmental legislation, from regulatory reporting to improvement programmes.
- Ensure that the Safety [Environmental] Management System remains compliant to current environmental and product stewardship legislation and good practices.
- Engagement with industry bodies
- Facilitation of environmental risk studies and gap closure plans to ensure that risks on the site are reduced to ALARP (HAZOP, ERA, etc).
- Support HSE Manager in management of third-party environmental consultants
- Meet the principles of ALARP with respect to the environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement
**Qualifications**
ESSENTIAL - Appropriate Environmental Management qualification.
DESIRED - Environmental Management degree or equivalent
DESIRED - Chartered Membership in a relevant discipline, such as engineering or safety.
**Experience**
- Significant relevant experience in a highly regulated industry, preferably bulk liquid storage.
- A broad understanding of COMAH regulations and associated compliance requirements is essential.
- Management of 3rd party stakeholders, including regulators.
- Understanding of environmental aspects & relevant legislation.
- Working at a strategic level preferred.
- Holds a professional signature and / or regulatory signatory.
