Our client, a public sector body, seek a **Strategic Procurement Sp**ecialist for a interim period of 6 months.
This role can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, with a degree of hybrid working.

**Responsibilities**:

- Will support the exploration of all avenues for spend reduction and cost management across major contracts and grants in the organisation, demonstrating high quality commercial skills, and compliance with the full public procurement and grant-giving rulesand regulations. This will include collaborative and often sensitive work with policy leads, suppliers, grant recipients, procurement staff and senior stakeholders in the organisation to identify, agree and implement opportunities for spend reduction.
- Be required to building, and maintain, strong working relationships with customers whilst understanding the political sensitivities.
- Work within existing governance structures while providing robust challenge across the programme while ensuring that all commercial, procurement, reputational and policy delivery risks are articulated, understood and managed appropriately.
- Will be required to identify, and develop, strategic approaches to deliver value for money across key contracts and grants whilst ensuring the policy aspirations of the organisation are still met.

**Essential Skills**:

- Strong knowledge and experience in all aspects of strategic procurement process with clear working knowledge of end-to-end public procurement legislation in higher regulated procurements.
- Experience in strategic procurement techniques, demand management, supplier management and negotiation are essential.
- Experienced in working in high profile, fast-paced programmes.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills will be required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and analyse information from a variety of sources, draw out key messages in order to problem-solve and/or make recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills with experience of building and maintaining relationships at senior (Director/Chief Executive/Chief Operating Officer) levels and working in collaboration to enable effective liaison withinternal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal that clearly convey commercial ideas and information to influence senior level decision makers.
