The sponsorship team sits in the Medicines Regulation and Prescribing branch in the Medicines Directorate. The Medicines Directorate is responsible for the system wide approach to the regulation, pricing, supply and prescribing of medicines. We are responsible for the implementation and operation of two major branded medicines pricing schemes. We are also responsible for medicines shortages, and policy responsibility for prescription charges and exemptions and prescribing.

**Job description**:

- This is a fast moving, diverse and challenging area that provides an excellent opportunity to work on a high profile policy area with significant Ministerial interest. The post holder will support the accountability and governance arrangements for NICE, help to shape NICE's priorities and policy on medicines access and support the extensive volume of parliamentary activity on NICE and medicines access. The post provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with a diverse range of internal and external colleagues at a senior level, including NICE, Ministers’ offices, the Office for Life Sciences, NHS England, and other Government departments.**Person specification**:

- Preparing high quality briefing for Ministers and senior DHSC officials on aspects of NICE’s work, including medicines access.
- Planning and supporting the governance arrangements for NICE, including providing the secretariat for accountability meetings.
- Supporting the arrangements for selecting and prioritising topics for NICE guidance development.
- Leading on developing a Framework Agreement between NICE and the Department that describes how the organisations will work together.
- Coordinating DHSC and wider Government responses to consultations on NICE guidance and recommendations.
- Preparing speeches and briefing for parliamentary debates and responses to Parliamentary Questions and Private Office Cases.

**Key skills and experience required for the role**:

- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interpret, condense, and simplify complex information.
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise, including managing competing priorities.
- The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively with other internal and external colleagues.
- Taking the initiative to drive forward work that you are responsible for.
- Strong organisational skills to manage tasks to deadlines, involving relevant stakeholders across the team and beyond.
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Your normal place of work will be your contractual primary workplace, usually either London or Leeds. Within DHSC we offer non-contractual hybrid working. The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time spent in the office, enabling in person interaction and collaboration and enhancing team working, learning, and support.

Opportunities for some working from home may be available; other flexible working options may be discussed with the hiring manager in line with individual circumstances and business need.
