**About the Role**

Duties will include the timely and accurate reporting of test results and preparation of documentation to support sample shipments to and from our laboratories. When required, the post holder will also help to organise meetings and events.

**Main duties and responsibilities as the Deputy Laboratory Reference Administrator**:
**Responsible for Administrative support to WOAH/FAO/UK reference laboratories**:

- Administrative support to Head of Vesicular Disease Reference Laboratory and Head of Non-vesicular Disease Reference Laboratory (and team members as required).
- Point of contact for stakeholders with regards to submission of samples for diagnostic testing, import/export, procurement of reagents/services.
- Proficient use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) (full training provided)
- Reporting of test results to competent authorities and commercial stakeholders through LIMS in line with KPIs.
- Ensure invoices go out in a timely manner.
- Organisation of reference laboratory meetings and events, both virtual and in person.
- Organise logistics for the delivery of incoming samples to the reference laboratories
- Support the transfer of infectious and non-infectious biological material from the reference laboratories (nationally and internationally).
- Support the delivery of Pirbright Proficiency Testing Schemes (PTS) to international laboratories as required.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

- Strong communication skills, allowing for effective collaboration with a range of individuals and teams, both internal and external.
- Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented qualities.
- An approachable demeanour and excellent attention to detail in regards to keeping written records.

**Due to the nature of the work carried out by Pirbright, all successful applicants will be required to go through a comprehensive screening process including reference and qualification checks, financial and security clearances.**

**Essential/Desirable requirements**

**Essential**
- Demonstrated experience of working as an administrator
- Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organise and multi-task
- Enthusiastic and willingness to learn
- Capable of careful, precise work
- Good record keeping
- Time management skills
- Good computer skills, demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft packages

**Desirable**
- A graduate degree
- Experience in event organisation
- Experience with IATA regulations for the packing and shipping of biological goods.
