She uses his memory as motivation to give Westminster Youth Council members the opportunity to have a voice and get involved in decision-making. This passion resulted in her innovation: The Westminster Youth Market. Here local teenagers learn about entrepreneurship and develop their personal skills. This is an inclusive platform where everyone’s contribution and abilities are celebrated. Inspired by a promising life cut short, Shofa believes without vision there is no direction and every young person should be supported to realise their dreams.

**The Role**:
As a Sunday Assistant you can make your own powerful contribution to enriching the lives of Westminster’s residents and the communities that surround them.

Joining our team at Paddington, Charing Cross, Pimlico, St Johns Wood or Marylebone you’ll provide vital Sunday cover. You’ll offer customers a warm welcome and point them to the right resources, whether their visit is for education or work or simply to enjoy a safe space and a great book for a few hours. No two shifts are the same in these busy, friendly community spaces and you can expect to get involved in signing up new members, answering enquiries, shelving books and helping readers use our computers. It’s a great opportunity to make a difference to your local community and the ideal introduction to library work.

**About You**:
You’ll need to be a confident communicator with a proactive approach who’s happy juggling a number of tasks at the same time. A passion for customer service is key but it’s the way you react to requests and solve problems that will mark you out. You’ll be keen to learn and keen to pass on your skills to others.

Customers will look to you for inspiration: to experience of the joy of reading, learning and, importantly, socialising.

Well-developed IT skills are important, including an awareness of social media. You’ll also bring a good standard of literacy and numeracy, and you will need to undergo a DBS check.
