**Umbrella Medical** are offering an exciting opportunity for a **Medical Secretary **to join our successful group of practices.

As part of an ongoing recruitment drive due to development of existing staff & organisational growth, we are looking to recruit a reliable, motivated & hard-working individual to join our friendly team. You would be based predominantly at one surgery though may be asked to cover at any of our Umbrella Practices for training & development or to cover in times of sickness or annual leave.

**This post for a 12 month fixed term maternity cover position.**

We are looking for the right person to work as part of a friendly team to provide a high standard of secretarial support across our group of practices in & around the Walsall area.

You will be required to undertake a range of duties & tasks including general office duties such as word processing, audio typing, filing, photocopying, referrals to NHS & non NHS Services and 2 week referrals. You will be required to input and analyse computer data accurately, and to deal with enquiries from a number of sources (patients, outside agencies and other NHS organisations). You will need to be IT literate & comfortable working across a number of systems concurrently.

**Umbrella Medical **are a dynamic and progressive organization operating over 6 sites in Walsall with GMS and PMS contracts with approximately 35000 patients. We have high QOF achievement and offer a range of enhanced services. In addition we also participate in undergraduate and postgraduate training of healthcare professionals. We are currently CQC OUTSTANDING (2 practices)

Currently based over six sites, Lichfield Street Surgery, Holland Park Surgery, Mossley Fields Surgery, Sycamore House Medical Centre, The Limes Medical Centre & Broadway Medical Centre we are soon to be moving much of our town centre operations to a brand new purpose built surgery in the heart of Walsall.

Essential Criteria:

- Good Standard of education including GSCE pass grade in English Language
- IT literate (CLAIT or equivalent qualification)
- Experience of working in a medical setting (ideally General Practice)
- Basic general office procedures (e.g. record keeping, filing)
- Ability to liaise effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
- Effective written communication skills
- Effective listening skills
- Effective verbal communication skills, both face to face and on telephone
- Ability to process workload in a speedy and efficient manner
- Effective keyboard skills to enable the production of data and information using packages such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Ability to work using own initiative
- Ability to liaise effectively with all members of Practice staff
- Ability to transfer information/data with proficiency and accuracy
- Ability to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service

Desirable Criteria:

- AMSPAR Medical Secretary Qualification or Equivalent
- Audio-word processing
- Experience of with medical terminology

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: £10.50-£11.50 per hour
