We are looking for a highly experienced, masters level educated Advanced practitioner. This role would suit either an experienced Advance Practitioner or an experienced MSK therapist looking to develop into an Advanced Practice role.

The role involves working with a team of Advanced practitioners and a consultant physiotherapist to deliver a spinal triage service serving patients across Coastal West Sussex. This involves assessing patients with complex spinal presentations and managing their onward management appropriately. You will develop close working relationships with other relevant specialities such as rheumatology and pain and will have the opportunity to discuss complex cases at regular MDT meetings with the pain service and spinal surgery team.

This role also involves being an expert resource for the MSK team, providing input in managing complex MSK conditions, and providing leadership support to the team. This role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in service planning and development, education and training as well as clinical expertise. You will need to have excellent organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure in a busy department, and a sense of humour is always useful Join us and become part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the professional framework of Advanced Practice Physiotherapy, alongside the multi-disciplinary team for the delivery of patient care in speciality clinics and MSK physiotherapy departments. Using advanced clinical and diagnostic skills, being responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a specialist patients who are likely to have complex and/or chronic presentations ; where appropriate in discussion with the multidisciplinary team. This will include the clinical diagnosis and onward management of the patient through the most suitable care pathway and provision of physiotherapy treatment where this is appropriate.
- To work in the extended roles of physiotherapy practice by providing a diagnostic and triage service; including requesting and following up MRI, X-ray and pathology investigations, and undertaking specific clinic based treatments such as joint and soft tissue injections as applicable.
- To develop excellent communication and productive working partnerships with primary care service colleagues, secondary care consultants (e.g. orthopaedic consultants, neurosurgeons, rheumatologists, consultants in pain medicine)
- To be responsible for proposing, planning and coordinating evidence based projects, audit and research across the sites, maintaining and improving all aspects of clinical governance and quality assurance. To recommend changes in practice and implement policy changes highly specialist clinical area.
