**Estates Operative**

**1.0 FTE / 35 Hours per week; Grade 3, £19,578.00 - £21,197.00**

The role of Estates Operative is an integral part of the Estates service, supporting the departments in providing a safe, pleasant and functional environment for all users. As a team, you will work to provide a general maintenance and repair service across the campus, general grounds work duties and lifting & shifting.

You must be a team player, who understands and appreciates how important your role is to the smooth running of the Estates service. We are looking for someone with initiative and a willingness to help out where needed, along with enthusiasm for participating in projects and all aspects of Estates work. There is a substantial amount of manual handling and lifting involved in the post.

This is a newly established team, and the need to be flexible is essential; core working hours are between 8am-4pm, but you will need to be able to work flexibly around these hours, with occasional 7am starts and 6pm finishes.

You will be required to be on an on-call rota. When on-call, you will be required to provide out of hours support over the telephone and may need to attend site if required. You are required to sign an On-Call Agreement.

You need an understanding and appreciation of the cycle of work in an education setting, for example our peak summer work time, preparing for the return of students in September. You will be responsible for ensuring that the customer is kept informed of work taking place at all times, providing feedback and information as required. You will also be required to provide an outstanding level of customer service to staff, students and commercial activity.
