This is an extremely exciting time to be joining Leeds City Academy, one of the **most rapidly improving** schools within the Leeds area and county of West Yorkshire. **Role**:
To contribute to the key objective of the Academy Development Plan, raising standards of behaviour, by administrating and supervising the day to day running of the internal seclusion room, supporting students through restorative practice and tracking integration after their placement in the Reflective Learning Centre.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal, you will run the Reflective Learning Centre in partnership another member of staff however having different key areas of focus throughout the day. As such, be able to work alone, to motivate and encourage disengaged students, and to de-escalate potentially poor behaviour is essential.

The post holder will ensure that the various resources of the academy are used in the most efficient way, adapting and updating these where appropriate, so that the academy can fulfil its educational objectives and continually improve in its teaching and learning within a pleasant and stimulating environment.

NB: All post-holders at the White Rose Academies Trust are responsible for improving the outcomes for learners and upholding the ethos of the academies. Keeping Children Safe in Education and the guidance for Safer Working Practices directs the work of every adult working at or associated with White Rose Academies Trust.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To provide continuous supervision and behavioural support in The Bridge, Internal Alternative Provision and Bridge Programme.
- To encourage students to reflect on their behaviour and to accept responsibility for their actions (including students working without disruption).
- To hold restorative conversations with students to explore the reasons for their behaviour and strategies to prevent repeated behaviour choices.
- To facilitate and organise restorative meetings between students and staff where appropriate to support with restoring relationships.
- To support students after their placement in the Reflective Learning Centre, through check ins and learning walks.
- To establish a calm orderly environment, using de-escalation techniques to maintain order.
- To log behaviour incidents/attendance on Arbor and Provision Maps, complete a daily behaviour log and contribute to a half termly behaviour report.
- To monitor the quality of work completed by students and ensure that this is assessed where appropriate.
- To ensure that the Reflective Learning Centre, Bridge and Internal Alternative Provision procedures are adhered to and that the room and its resources are well maintained, neat and tidy.
- To supervise students in the Reflective Learning Centre, Bridge and Internal Alternative provision at break and lunch time, ensuring that an accurate order goes into the canteen staff on a daily basis.
- To implement strategies to support students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting independence.
- To establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model, providing support, encouragement, guidance and assistance for learning.
