**Availability**: Full Time. **38 hours per week based on a rolling rota between Monday - Friday 09:00 - 20:00 and Saturday - Sunday 11:00 - 16:00**

**Salary**: £11.61 per hour. £312.00 monthly shift allowance for night rota.**

**About the Role**

T2 Sexual Health Adviser primary role is to provide information on all aspects of sexual and reproductive health to the general public via telephone helpline and promote key messages on risk reduction as defined by Public Health England client.

To signpost service users to appropriate services for their needs and assist them beyond any barriers in accessing these services. They must be non-judgemental, calm, able to explain complex medical concerns in a simple and straight forward way and demonstrate a respectful and proactive approach to the needs of those in groups of inclusion.

**Key Purpose (OHID previously PHE)**

The Sexual Health Information Line operate on two tiers T1 advisers are trained internally to triage calls and provide basic information and simple signposts.

T2 advisers are qualified to Sexual Health Adviser Competency and operate within that professional framework and the remit boundaries as defined by professional bodies and PHE client.

Clinical Supervision, escalation and guidance is provided by Clinical Lead.

This feeds into the wider PHE Team Managers and Service Manager Structure.

**Main Requirements**
- Registered Nurse (1st level) or CQSW/ Diploma Social Work or A relevant degree: Psychology, Health Science, Social Sciences, Health Promotion, Education or A relevant higher qualification e.g., an MSC in Counselling, Health Education/Promotion, Public Health, or Nursing Registration.
- Previous training in sexual health/family planning and/or HIV. STIF competency.
- At least 2 years’ experience of working in a behavioural change, health advice, counselling, or information service setting.
- Knowledge and experience of sexual health education and promotion if other relevant background be prepared to undertake STIF competency exams.
- Utilisation of counselling/counselling skills with patients either face to face or by telephone
- To have a working knowledge of clinical and psychosocial aspects of unplanned pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections, HIV, or related sexual health issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to handle complex queries of a sensitive nature and engage and assess needs in a timely manner. Able to articulate and communicate effectively with service users of all ages (including young people), conveying information and tailoring support specific to caller’s needs, age and understanding.

- To strictly adhere to delivering the highest level of service user engagement.
- To recognise the limitations of a tele health provision and escalate appropriately
- To effectively manage the content and extent of all interactions to maximise productivity
- To proactively seek clarification and guidance from clinical lead where needed.
- To produce high-quality, accurate documentation as required
- To support colleagues and lead by example in your interactions with T1
- To participate in the wider PHE Team efforts and activities.

**Essential Technical and Professional Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications**

- At least 2 years’ experience of working in a behavioural change, health advice, counselling, or information service setting.
- Knowledge and experience of sexual health education and promotion if other relevant background be prepared to undertake STIF competency exams.
- Utilisation of counselling/counselling skills with patients either face to face or by telephone
- To have a working knowledge of clinical and psychosocial aspects of unplanned pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections, HIV, or related sexual health issues.
- Experience of supervision models
- Self-motivated
- A ‘can do’ mentality is imperative
- Uses initiative to proactively identify and resolve any issues/barriers to effective working.
- Confident use of Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and telephony platforms.
