Sure Start Start are currently seeking an experienced **Regulatory Compliance Officer** to work for our client in Warrington.

**Rate of pay**: £35.00 per hour
**Hours**:5 days per week, 7.40hrs per day
**Employment Type**:Temporary ongoing

**Working Relationships**
Liaising with team colleagues, other Local Authorities, Government agencies,
statutory & voluntary bodies, other departments, the commercial sector and the
general public as required.

**Key Tasks and Accountabilities**
- The post holder must carry out the duties with full regard to the Council’s Corporate Plan, the Corporate Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Social Inclusion Strategy.
- To visit, inspect and report on premises of the Borough where food safety legislation applies and to record visits appropriately on the Council’s database.
- To investigate complaints and monitor all types of works in progress at relevant premises.
- To offer business advice, guidance and support to encourage compliance, including where necessary instigating formal action.

**Special Conditions**
- To carry out as necessary, duties outside normal working hours.
- The post holder will be able to fulfil the duties as set out in the job description and to demonstrate that they hold the full range of skills set out in the person specification.
- A commitment to public service, Local Government and the Borough Council, with the ability to form effective working relationships with staff at all levels in the Borough Council and outside organisations.
- The post holder will be responsible for providing an excellent level of customer care and be able to resolve all enquiries from customers using highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- The post holder will participate in compliance and enforcement work and be able to identify contraventions and secure compliance including providing appropriate advice, undertaking revisits, escalating issues to managers appropriately and obtaining, recording and presenting evidence where required.
- The post holder will have the ability to carry out formal interventions and interviews and have the ability, knowledge and confidence to give evidence in court.
- The post holder will hold Environmental Health Registration Board registration or Chartered Status at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or equivalent qualification that will enable them to undertake the full range of food hygiene interventions identified in the Food Law Code of Practice.

**Experience**

legislation and guidance relating to food safety and associated areas.
- Experience of delivering high standards of customer care.
- Substantial experience of regulation and enforcement.
- Experience of handling and protecting sensitive and confidential

information.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Highly developed interpersonal skills in order to be able to effectively communicate, negotiate with and influence a wide range of people including customers, partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to produce reports, instructions and written documents in clear and concise terms.
- Ability to use information technology effectively to access and record information accurately and produce reports as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively plan and prioritise a wide variety of tasks and competing demands using own initiative to agreed deadlines with minimum supervision.
- Skilled in working as part of a team to achieve common goals and successful outcomes.
- Ability to work in an even handed, systematic and calm manner in high pressured situations.
- Ability to understand and demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity.

**Education/Qualifications/Knowledge**
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
- Has achieved registration with Environmental Health Registration Board, OR Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner status with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
- Be able to demonstrate that they meet the Statutory Competence requirements for an Authorised Officer under the Food Law Code of Practice.

**Other Requirements**
- To be able visit and inspect premises as required which may fall outside of normal office hours.
- Applicant must have access to a suitable vehicle insured for business use for this role.
- Full UK driving licence.
