South Greenwich Children’s Centres are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to support our busy Centres. Our children’s Centres provide childcare, training and support to families with children under five in our local areas so it’s imperative that our buildings and surroundings provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment. You may be expected to travel between sites within our area so a car and a clean current driving licence would be advantageous.

Working with our Maintenance Engineer, you’ll ensure our buildings and grounds are secure, operate effectively and smoothly as well as promoting health & safety throughout. This is a busy role, so you will be efficient at multi-tasking as you will get involved in a variety of jobs ensuring the buildings are in a good condition and compliant within required legislation. If you have a particular skill/qualification in this field we’d love to use your expertise.

You should be experienced at working on your own, and using your initiative.

There will be some administration duties, key holding/call out duties and you will be required to be flexible to attend mandatory training. On rare occasions you may be required to work on a Saturday when a centre is empty in order to carry out essential work.

You’ll have good communication skills including IT abilities, be hard working and have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. A real team player, you’ll be trustworthy, helpful and reliable. You will be required to have enhanced DBS clearance via our recruitment process.

**What you’ll do**:

- Repairs and maintenance
- Decorating
- Meter readings
- General garden maintenance
- Window Cleaning
- Job logging with external agencies

**What you need**:

- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
- Excellent planning and organising skills
- Ability to use own initiative
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing, including drafting reports and presenting information at meetings
- Ability to maintain accurate and up to date administrative records and systems using IT or a willingness to acquire these skills
- Good basic numeracy skills
- Ability to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all building related plant
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, team working and communication skills
- Able to travel to relevant facilities in your work area and community outreach locations.
