This is an exciting time to be joining the Estates and Facilities Department at the Trust as a Healthcare Security Response Officer.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive security service to the Trust, protecting patients, visitors, staff and Trust assets against all acts of crime and other risks.

The Post Holder must hold a valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) Door Supervisor License in addition, a valid Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) license would be an advantage but not essential.

You will be required to use appropriate skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and physically assist in the physical intervention of violent and confused patients. Some of the duties will include:
To patrol the areas specified in departmental standard operating procedures, providing a strong security presence across the site.

To respond to calls for incidents with visitors who are being verbally or physically abusive, disruptive or committing a crime.

To respond promptly to all fire alarm calls, taking action to resolve alarms as quickly as possible with least disruption.

To support the Site Manager in all facilities related issues during the out of hour's periods.

To provide a confidential and discreet service to all service users at all times.

**Job Summary**:
To provide a comprehensive 24/7 frontline security service to the organisation at any of the Trust establishments throughout the duration of their employment. This role will include the prevention and detection of crime or anti-social behaviour, ensuring the safety of patients, staff and visitors on Trust premises, and ensuring the security of Trust property and assets.

You will be responsible for responding to all Trust security and fire alerts in a timely manner.

**The Main Duties of The Role Are**:
The postholder will work as part of a cohesive team, providing an effective security service to the Trust

Ability to use tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills when dealing with both internal/external stakeholders

Help and assist staff, patients, and visitors in a manner that reflects positively on the Security Service and the Trust

Will respond quickly and effectively to incidents that may occur suddenly and without warning

The postholder is required to wear protective body equipment such as, stab vest, when on duty, other than on official breaks. Be responsible for safe and appropriate storage of issued PPE, reporting defects to Security Supervisor in timely manner

Conduct internal/external patrols of ELHT hospitals and grounds to prevent and deter criminal or antisocial behaviours, utilising deister point areas to demonstrate assurance

Ability to stand/walk for extended periods when on patrols or patient monitoring and ability to move quickly should an incident require urgent response

Frequent patient monitoring duties, this may include dealing directly with patient’s who lack capacity, may behave in inappropriate ways and/or present themselves as violent & aggressiv

An understanding and empathy toward mental health conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s will be required and the ability to interact with such patients in a caring, empathic manner will be necessary for this role

Ability to deal with volatile and unpredictable people

High-profile presence on wards and departments as requested by Supervisor

Remain vigilant and alert to surroundings, demonstrating a ‘think on your feet’ capability, make independent decisions as/when required to situations that may evolve quickly and often without any warning

Ability to remain calm and reassuring under pressure along with being assertive in a positive manner

Provide protective escort to staff to/from their areas of work and to/from their vehicles, along with protective escort to patients transferring between Trust buildings. This may also include escort to staff moving monies within the hospital to General Office

Provide assistance to management that supports the function of the service including supporting any persons holding that role in a ‘temporary or acting’ capacity

Ensure calls to the Security Control Room are dealt with politely, efficiently, and courteously. Ensure emergency calls are dealt with immediately

Remain knowledgeable and up to date with Trust Policies and Procedures, including Local Operating Procedures (LOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

To respond to alarms as requested by the Security Supervisor, these may include but are not limited to fire alarms, heli-shouts, major incidents, security breach alarms

To assist in Trust response to a Major Incident, following instruction from the Management Team, Emergency Services and/or as per Policy and recognised Proc
