An exciting opportunity is available to join the Oncology Day Unit at Wansbeck General Hospital as a Registered Nursing Associate. You will be an integral part of the nursing team and will work alongside registered nurses to deliver SACT (Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy) and supportive treatments to patients. You will be working on a Monday to Friday day unit working closely with other healthcare professionals.

Working as a member of the nursing team under the direction of the Registered Nurse to provide and monitor care.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. Under the direction of the unit manager and senior staff, provide high standards of evidence based, quality, holistic, nurse-led care to a wide variety of cancer patients and their carers.

With appropriate training and support safely administer a wide range of cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs and supportive care to patients, cannulation & phlebotomy will also be required for the role, training can be provided.

If chemotherapy training is needed, the applicants must be willing to undertake formal study to obtain the relevant qualifications as part of their development and role.
