Healthcare Assistant within the Endoscopy Department. The position will involve direct clinical support to the nurses and patients, assisting with procedures in the endoscopy rooms.

**Responsibilities**:

- To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Under supervision of a registered nurse assist with patient care activities including recording of observations pre, peri and post procedures.
- To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the admission area/procedure rooms/recovery area.
- To communicate effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written information.
- To actively contribute to the efficient management of clinical resources, including ordering/monitoring of supplies.
- Use of physical effort to carry out the demands of the job role (e.g. pushing and pulling trolleys/wheelchairs, supporting patients during walking, moving of patients notes).
- To support new or less experienced work colleagues to adapt to the workplace.

Main

**Responsibilities**:
Communications
- To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team under supervision of a registered nurse.
- To communicate basic non-clinical information to patients under supervision of a registered nurse.
- To carry out clerical tasks as required.
- To carry out routine administrative /telephone related tasks.
- To communicate effectively when giving /receiving verbal and written information.
- To maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Responsibility for Patient Care
- Under supervision of a registered nurse assist with patient care activities including recording of observations pre, peri and post procedures.
- To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the clinical areas.
- To carry out routine household management/maintenance activities.
- Assist patients/relatives/carers during incidental contacts.

Planning and organising
- To organise and plan daily workload or activities with registered nurses in order to meet the demands of the job.
- To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the admission area/procedure rooms/recovery area.

Responsibilities for Physical and / or Financial Resources
- To actively contribute to the efficient management of clinical resources, including ordering/monitoring of supplies.
- Ensure safe and efficient use of equipment, resources and consumables at all times.

Responsibility for Policy and Service Development and Implementation
- Actively contribute to the Customer Service Excellence accreditation to improve the quality service for patients.
- To be aware of, comment on and /or actively participate in changes on policies, procedures or service developments.
- To embrace and support line management and the unit in making service improvements effective within the workplace.

Responsibilities for Human Resources and Leadership
- To support new or less experienced work colleagues to adapt to the workplace.
- To be a role model to new staff in the department.

Responsibilities for Teaching and Training
- To participate in training and development activities that are relevant to the job.
Responsibilities for data and information resources
- To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Research, Development and Audit
- Participate in clinical audit and non-clinical audits when required.

Physical Skills and Effort
- Use of physical effort to carry out the demands of the job role (e.g. pushing and pulling trolleys/wheelchairs, supporting patients during walking, moving of patients notes).
