**Status: Term Time + 1 = 39 weeks**

**Hours: 37 FTE**

**Purpose of the job**

Overall Purpose of the Post is to;
- Facilitate the educational partnership between home, school, wider school community and other agencies, by support, liaison and negotiation; and where conflict arises to act as a facilitator in finding successful resolutions.
- Lead on monitoring and improving the attendance of all pupils in the academy
- Take on responsibilities for the day to day safeguarding practices (including child protection) at both academies by attending meetings, writing reports, forming links with families and pupils and co-operating with other agencies.
- Support the academy with any behaviour issues and support with re-integrating pupils back into classes where needed.

**Pupil/Family support**
- Work with individual pupils and parents, carers and families to improve attendance, behaviour and/or performance.
- Undertake first day contact with parents/carers. Follow up lack of response to first day contact and other contacts by home visiting or meeting parent/carers in school.
- Work with a range of school staff to help plan strategies and deliver interventions to address individual pupil issues.
- Implement action plans with parents/carers and monitor and report on progress and achievements.
- Working with individual families to reinforce self-esteem and support pupil achievement.
- Sign-posting families to sources of information and guidance where appropriate.
- May organise year/group detentions, phoning home
- Attend various meetings such as such as Attendance Planning, Educational Supervisor Order, Team around the Child, Child in Need or Child Protection.

**Resources**
- May prepare/make available resources for parents/carers and families.

**Systems, policies and procedures**
- Adhere to procedures and systems and undertake necessary administration in this regard.

**Team involvement**
- May provide supervision and support to members of staff.

**Building professional relationship**
- Communicates with parents, carers and families to exchange/sign-post information and provide support/challenge including home visits.
- Work with a range of external agencies such as health and social care.
- Liaise with other staff regarding achievement and behaviour of students.
- Advise on effective family support for school staff and families and disseminate good practice.

**Record keeping and information management**
- Analyse and monitor relevant data such as attendance, behaviour to identify trends and issues and to ensure a proactive response
- Maintain accurate records of casework and interventions with pupils and families.
- Completing CAFs for children and families where required.

**Problem solving and decision making**
- Analyse and interpret information or situations and to solve varied problems or develop solutions such as to help plan strategies and interventions to address individual pupil issues.
- Would refer to line manager for unusual or difficult problems.

**Knowledge, skills and experience**
- Working at or towards national occupational standards for working with parents and knowledge/skills equivalent to level 4.
- IT and keyboard skills.
- Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures relevant to health and safety and child protection.

**Physical demands and working conditions**
- Work is in an office environment and will also involve home visits. Regular exposure to people related behaviour e.g. aggression from parents.
- Requires normal physical effort with a mixture of sitting, walking and carrying minor loads.

As a term of your employment you may reasonably be expected to perform duties of a similar or related nature to those outlined in the job description.

**Variation Clause**

This job description will be reviewed and updated periodically in order to ensure that it relates to the job performed, or to incorporate any proposed changes. This procedure will be conducted by the Principal/Manager in consultation with the postholder. In these circumstances it will be the aim to reach agreement on reasonable changes, but if agreement is not possible management reserves the right to make changes to the job description following consultation.

**Fluency in English**

The post is covered by Part 7 of the immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
