**Salary - **£34,000 - £37,000

**What you’ll be doing**:
How do you make a submarine environmentally sustainable? That's the challenge we face each day at BAE Systems as we progress the design and build of multiple submarine programmes. Here at BAE Systems Submarines we have a team of environmental specialists within each of the programmes providing environmental advice, support, guidance, and instruction to ensure that environmental considerations and requirements are embedded and achievedfrom the outset.

As an environmental specialist you will be involved in a wide remit range of environmental activities with responsibility for gathering, assessing and reporting the environmental information that will help demonstrate the environmental case for each submarine. You'll be following our Design for the Environment process looking for opportunities to minimise and mitigate environmental impacts and risks through design.

**Your skills and experiences**:
**Essential**:

- Ability to evaluate environmental and technical data
- Understanding of environmental assessment and identification of environmental aspects across the lifecycle
- Report Writing / Presentation skills and ability to effectively convey environmental information
- Team Worker

**Desirable**:

- Broad understanding of one or more of the following: Environmental Management Systems, Materials Technology, Environmental Legislation, Disposal and/or Net Zero

**The Environmental Specialist Team**:
As well as being an integral part of the environmental team, you will be working with system designers and engineers, specialists from other interfacing disciplines such as legislation and materials technology, as well as net xero (Carbon Footprinting) project teams. There is also opportunity to engage with other environmental departments within Submarines (Sustainability, Operational SHE) and other BAE Systems lines of business.

You will also interface with key project stakeholders including Industrial Partners (e.g. Rolls-Royce and Babcock), The MOD and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA)
