**The job itself**:
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Children’s Services have been rated GOOD by Ofsted following our recent ILACS inspection.

Since the last inspection in 2019, the leadership team has made significant and sustained changes in all of the practice and leadership areas identified for improvement. Through extensive engagement with external partners and scrutineers, the improvements in the service mean that children and young people in East Riding receive a timely and effective response and intervention when they need it. Senior leaders and councillors are clear about what their strengths are and what still needs to be improved in service delivery, and their self-evaluation is accurate. They have ambitious plans and have secured significant investment to develop their services further as part of their continuous improvement journey. Senior leaders lead by example, and this has supported practitioners to embed the relational model of practice with the families they work with.

A great and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Participation, Innovation, and Improvement portfolio for an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner to join a newly created service delivering a revised offer to children and young people around advocacy and participation promoting voice and engagement. These newly created posts (five in total) - 3 x Child Voice & Creative Engagement Officers (Particpation with specific leads) and 2 x Child Voice & Creative Engagement Officers (Advocacy) will be pivotal in the delivery of future services as we continually develop our offer to children and young people.

This newly created service forms part of our continued improvement activity in driving strength based, relational and collaborative practice in our work with children, young people and their networks, and the post holder must works in a service that ensures that strategic vision for youth voice and creative engagement are translated into local plans in collaboration with service users alongside professionals and partner organisations.

This newly created roles will need to develop, co-ordinate and directly contribute to, the delivery of youth voice and creative engagement activity and programme of opportunities within a range of settings.These roles will support the improved offer which includes:

- An improved Participation offer to all children and young people via the Mind of My Own App.
- An improved Advocacy model which will be available to all children and young people. This will include the option for non-based local authority advocacy should this be required.
- An improved Participation model which will include the development and delivery of various support groups for children and young people across our practice system. It is proposed that children and young people will become more involved in the co-production of services.
- An improved Children in Care offer and Independent Visiting offer which is open and accessible to all children Looked After by the local authority. The Children in Care Council will drive policy, procedure and service development through a co-production model.
- An improved Young Carer offer which will be based on analysis of need and will be delivered based on what young carers say they need.
- An improved relationship with our voluntary sector to ensure we enter a partnership to co-deliver services to children, young people and their networks across the East Riding of Yorkshire.
- The development of a volunteer service to enable children and young people access community based activities across the East Riding of Yorkshire.

These posts part of a wider commitment by the Children, Families and Schools Directorate to support the practice system to deliver impact and focused outcomes for our children, young people and their networks via building a sustainable foundation of support to our holistic workforce. This is a great opportunity to be part of an aspirational and forward-thinking Portfolio with a priority of supporting those children, young people and their networks.

The Office Base for this role will be County Hall, Beverley although will work across the East Riding of Yorkshire footprint. Working arrangements will be hybrid and working days are Monday to Friday.
