We are looking for a senior nurse to serve as a bridge between nursing and information technology, working at a leadership level to ensure all voices are represented in our decision making and planning. You will use the development of informatics to drive forward improvement and transformation of our clinical processes and pathways, laying the transition into a new hospital
- Understand and support the development of the operational and strategic vision of the Trust.
- Ensure strong clinical leadership, support change management and adoption of the clinical digital strategy and aligned transformation programme
- Provide leadership and direction for nursing informatics with a primary focus on nursing practice including research in support of interdisciplinary patient-centred care
- Develop nursing informatics plans, data analysis, creation of policies and procedures for evidence-based nursing practice, and serve as a champion for nursing informatics & transformation projects and innovation.
- With the senior leadership team, initiate, lead and participate in research, academic partnership and interdisciplinary collaboration to evaluate projects relevant to healthcare Informatics and digital patient safety.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust has three courageous goals: to provide outstanding care, to have truly integrated service provision and to be modern. We have two very ambitious projects that are going key to this transformation: the implementation of new a new EPR by autumn 2024 and the development of a brand new hospital on a green field site.
- Lead Nursing Informatics Steering groups and communities of practice to ensure systems development reflects current nursing and midwifery practice and is responsive to the needs of frontline care givers.
- Ensure robust training and development plans are developed, delivered and evaluated to ensure nurses, midwives and AHPs have the necessary skills.
- Use technology integration and interoperability both within the hospital and across the wider health and social care system to improve patient safety, quality of care, and improve outcomes.
- Ensure that the design and build of the EPR is interdisciplinary, with significant and sufficient end-user engagement.
- Engage other clinical colleagues to ensure clinical adoption of new technologies.
- Work in partnership with the CCIO to ensure clinical decision support is placed at strategic points in the workflow to best support evidence-based patient care.
- Ensure health information technology aligns with the nursing, midwifery and allied health professional strategic goals of the organisation.
- Provide visible clinical leadership to all healthcare professionals at all levels of the organisation that are responsible for the implementation of digital solutions.
- Champion and promote innovation and stimulate a positive culture in the development of clinical informatics across the organisation and at a national level.
- Serve as the principle informatics advisor to the chief nurse and the professional team
- Be a visible and credible key leader for clinical informatics across professional and more specifically within nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals.
- Lead the development of strategic support for the EPR programme helping to define requirements, review and select the most appropriate systems.
- Provide direction and strategic input into the digital hospital programme to ensure that systems of record and systems of engagement work hand-in-hand to provide a seamless working environment which maximises the use of the new hospital and the technology is being designed in from the outset.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the clinical and technology strategies by identifying the requirements of key stakeholders.
- Set and monitor standards based on local and national audit and current evidence ensuring the implementation of best practice.
- Ensure that clinical governance issues pertaining to nursing, midwifery and allied health profession related to clinical informatics are identified and actioned appropriately, in addition
- Maintain a sustainable governance framework for the review and development of evidence based nursing clinical content within the electronic patient record.
- Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills in clinical informatics ensuring the successful implementation of technology that benefits patients care and achieves expected outcomes.
- Facilitate the identification of training and education needs of medical, nursing, allied health professionals and other relevant staff in relation to clinical informatics.
- Initiate and lead new innovative education programmes in relation to clinical informatics to facilitate changes in practice.
