**Job type**:Full-time - Permanent

As the first tier of local government St Ives Town Council is active in supporting and representing those who live, work and visit St Ives and are actively working to make it a key tourist destination to increase the economic vibrancy for the benefit ofall.

**The Role**

You will work closely with the Town Clerk and many other support staff within the council making regular big decisions with the best interest of the town being your main priority. You would be overseeing all amenities the council has to offer, this includesthe grounds maintenance team and Farmers market team.

**Responsibilities**
- To manage and motivate all Amenities staff to ensure they are briefed to enable them to undertake work in a correct, safe and timely manner. This includes, work rota setting, identifying training and development requirements, as well as disciplinary andcapability issues.
- You will need to be able to regularly produce reports to justify council spending. This will also be used to justify spending and changes to local residents.
- To oversee the work of contractors to ensure work is carried out to specification.
- To set contract specifications for cleansing, maintenance and other contracts.
- To ensure the compliance regimes applicable to Council land, buildings and other facilities are adhered to.
- To assist and co-ordinate with event management and support groups and working parties including traffic management, signage, barriers etc.
- To liaise with the police on all parks and buildings policing and security issues.
- To be lead officer for the Amenities Committee and to attend such other meetings and civic events as a representative of the Council as required.

**Projects to start immediately**
- Listed building Roof replacement (6-month project)
- Allotment Audit and re work
- Outside space renovation project
- Assist and head the Carbon Neutral working party internally
- Farmers Market Structure and operation
- Basic English and Maths qualification (minimum of Grade 4 or C or equivalent)
- Full driving licence and use of own vehicle.
- Appropriate management, administration or professional qualification.
- Experience in Project Management
- Experience in Risk Management
- Knowledge and experience of managing a team
- knowledge and Experience of managing contracts and contractors
- Evidence of ability to prioritise work, set targets, achieve positive outcomes and delegate effectively.
- Ability to relate to, and communicate with staff, members of the public and external agencies.
- Willingness to work out of office hours in order to attend Council meetings and Council business
