**Position**:Youth Worker (School-based)

**Reporting to**:Attainment & Skills Manager

**Contractual status**:Full Time, 35 hours per week

**Salary**:£23,000 - £25,000

**Annual Leave**:25 days and 9 public

To work in partnership with an allocated Secondary School to assist in the delivery of youth work with an employability element. As a youth worker, you’ll deliver individual and group work aimed at young people of secondary school age. Through this work, you’ll help them to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs, building their confidence and skills so that they can make a successful transition into a positive destination after school.

**Key Result Areas**
- To work within a team to identify the needs of young people and deliver personal development programmes
- To understand the “neighbourhood” in which you work
- To build and maintain positive relationships with young people
- To monitor and evaluate programmes in consultation with colleagues and young people

**Essential**
- Experience of working face to face with young people
- Knowledge of issues that are current and relevant to young people
- Hold a driving licence & be willing to provide transportation to and from programmes using school minibus
- Ability to listen and empathise with young people
- Ability to relate to, encourage and motivate young people
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people and team members

**Desirable**
- Employability experience
- Ability to work independently and within a team to effectively deliver youth employability programmes

- Commitment to personal and professional training opportunities
- Develop relationships with young people based on respect trust, ensuring they have a safe space to develop their identity and place in society
- Work in partnership with families and other key people in the young person life, as well as professionals from other organisations involved with young people such as education, local authorities, training providers, in order to build a strong support network
- Support young people to access employability programmes

**Person Specification**
- Educated to minimum SVQ3 or HNC in relevant field or have minimum 4 years relevant experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft office packages, including databases
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both orally and written
- Full driving licence (maximum 6 points)
- The drive and initiative to work independently
- Ability to work with people at all levels internally and externally
- Ability to facilitate group work sessions
- Organised and systematic approach to monitoring and reporting
- Ability to motivate individuals facing barriers

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

- Youth work: 2 years (required)
