The role of Income Management Officer is paramount in maximizing Hft’s income through the effective management of current and former tenant rent/service charge accounts. It is a rewarding role where no two days are the same and you will be supported by a close-knit team, all of whom are passionate about providing the best service possible for our tenants.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and knowledgeable Income Management Officer who can hit the ground running, during a period of change and increased workload when we are about to launch our new Housing Management System called HomeMaster through managing a caseload of rent accounts and take the appropriate action in accordance with Hft’s rent arrears policies and procedures. You will be customer-focused and a problem solver, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

**We love to meet someone with**:

- Experience of working as Income Management Officer and be able to demonstrate strong experience and knowledge of effectively managing complex income recovery/debt cases within local authority and / or housing association.
- Experience of the provision of advice and support to tenants on welfare benefits and financial inclusion initiatives
- Good problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience of liaising with local authority housing benefit team, appointees, DWP to resolve payment queries, maximise income and minimise arrears.
- Proven experience of DIY possession proceedings and presenting cases at court.
- In-depth knowledge of the legal system and use of PCOL/MCOL.
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle.

**What will you be doing?**
- The main purpose of this role is to keep arrears debt levels within agreed targets through the property and effective management of rent / service charges.
- It is also very important for the successful person to be able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as our Care & Support teams, local authority housing benefits teams, and social services.
- To negotiate and undertake escalation of arrears actions, and reach an agreement to clear debts where possible, always ensuring that maximum affordable amount is agreed.
- You will work very closely with our Housing Support Officers in dealing with low level rent arrears.

This is Home-Based role but travel is required to visit geographical region and attend meetings as required in our Emerson's Green Office in Bristol.
