FP&A Business Partner

The Role:
The role sits within the UK Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, reporting directly to the Head of UK FP&A and Business Partnering. It is responsible for driving the overall UK expense story and supporting strong cost management - a strategic focus for Hiscox. In addition to reporting what’s happened, the role is responsible for identifying risks & opportunities within the cost base, and playing back forward-looking / actionable insights to the UK leadership team.

In addition, as the main Finance Business partner for Operations, People and Compliance function(s), you will be creating value through shaping commercial decision making and challenging the business to think differently.

The role provides a fantastic opportunity for a Big 4 trained (or equivalent) qualified Accountant with at least two years of post-qualified experience in industry or practice to join a fast-paced, highly commercial business that offers career progression and senior interaction across a range of finance activities. What you’ll be doing:

- Owning driver based budgeting / forecasting for the £100m+ UK expense base, meeting Group deadlines on a quarterly and annual basis for both Business Unit and Legal Entity views
- Running the monthly BAU reporting of UK expenses, including feeding data into a self-serve dashboard and producing a monthly UK leadership expenses pack
- Driving UK headcount management by working closely with HR to budget / forecast / and report monthly movements - underpinned by explanatory drivers
- Performing ad-hoc analysis following requests from senior management, including the UK Chief Finance Officer
- Supporting the Head of FP&A and Business Partnering with ad-hoc projects
- Instilling a mindset of continuous improvement to existing processes and outputs

Person Specification:

- Relevant professional qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Professional curiosity to ask the “so what” type question
- Initiative, drive, and ownership, with a strong determination to ‘get things right’
- Creative, proactive, and innovative - does not accept the status quo
- Exceptional analytical skills and ability to make strategic recommendations
- Confident communicator with the ability to interact and influence senior business leaders
- Advanced Excel skills a must

Nice to haves:

- Experience in or exposure to the general insurance sector
- Familiarity with the Oracle EPBCS / PCMCS platform
- Familiarity with Power Query / Power BI
- Experience presenting to management
