Irvine, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

We have an opportunity within North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership for the establishment of a new service for people with learning disabilities. Covering North Ayrshire, the Intensive Support Service (ISS) will offer specialist intervention, advice/consultation and training for and in relation to people with learning disabilities who are in need of more intensive support than is possible from within the existing Community Learning Disability Team.

Clients will be people 16 years of age and over who have a diagnosed learning disability; experience challenges in accessing mainstream services; and require significant specialist input in order to prevent placement breakdown and/or hospital admission. The ISS will also support individuals to prepare for their return to a community placement (or the establishment of a new placement). In addition, it will have a lead role in reviewing clients placed out of area in order to ensure the appropriateness of current arrangements or the need for planning to expedite change.

Collaboration with all the existing elements of the North Ayrshire Learning Disability Service will be key: this includes the integrated Community Learning Disability Team; Inpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit; and Day Opportunities.

The team will comprise of:
Nurse (Band 6)
Nursing Support Worker (Band 3)
Social Worker (Grade 10)
Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a)
Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6)
Consultant Psychiatrist

All roles are required to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.

A car driver/owner is essential.

For informal enquiries in relation to the function of the team as a whole, please contact
(Adele McGuffie, North CLDT Team Leader, 01294 323560)

For informal enquiries in relation to this post, please contact Dr Karen Stevenson, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, 01292 614908.
