Job title: Science Officer

**Salary**: £29k per annum

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Location: Working from home - with some travel within the UK for team meetings and occasional external events.

Reports to: Science Manager

Closing date: Tuesday 19th September

Interview date: Wednesday 11th October

The Science Officer supports the management of our grants portfolio and acts as our science communications expert, supporting colleagues in producing excellent content for a range of purposes. This role plays an integral part in delivering our vision to create a world where human diseases are cured faster with animal-free, human-specific technologies.

Job Profile
- Forge and maintain excellent working relationships with scientists, providing first class stewardship and practical support to enable them to transition to animal-free, human-relevant research.
- Support the management of the charity’s grants portfolio in line with our strategic aims, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure we understand and are delivering impact.
- Act as the key point of science communications expertise for colleagues across the charity, delivering excellent content for a range of purposes and channels, and ensuring all output is underpinned by accurate science.
- Provide practical support to scientists pursuing an animal free research career, including by delivering, growing, and maintaining the animal free antibodies database.
- Support the delivery of our internal events such as the Science Conference and represent Animal Free Research UK at relevant external events to increase visibility of the charity within the scientific community.
