This is an exciting new opportunity to work within the Milton Keynes Talking Therapies service which supports people with common mental health problems by providing psychological therapies. This role will provide employment support to people in order to help them gain, return to or stay in work.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

**The main duties of the role are**:

- To work with people that are unemployed and/or have challenges with their current employment. To encourage them to recognise the importance of productive work to good mental health and to help them plan a route into meaningful activity and employment.
- To work with Employers, Education and Training services, Employment Support Services and Third Sector Organisations to identify support mechanisms for people with a mental health problem who are seeking employment.
- To promote the service through work with employment and training agencies.
- To assist with the collection of data and service KPI’s.
- The post holder will ensure they uphold our Trust vision and values

This new scheme has been launched in Milton Keynes following the announcement of a national £122 million investment to increase the availability of employment support within NHS Talking Therapies.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To support people with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The role will involve working directly with Jobcentre Plus, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities.

1. To support and promote the use of employment interventions and provide a service focused on the aspirations of the person including:

- Conduct an assessment, discussing the person’s job goals and any concerns regarding their capacity for work.
- Match job tasks to an individual’s ability to do the job and any work solutions that may be required to develop the match.
- Refer the person to other support if they have particularly complex barriers.
- Offer the person support agreeing a written action plan with the person detailing the steps to be taken to either get back into or retain employment and the appropriate support route.
- The EA will develop in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, local support and new initiatives, taking into account the needs of the client to broker effective interventions. Including specialist schemes to help with retaining or finding employment.
- Work closely with local agencies to identify appropriate job vacancies
- Advocate on behalf of the person with prospective employers if necessary, aiming to identify work solutions that will overcome or minimise difficulties within the workplace.
- Where appropriate signpost the person to other agencies in the statutory and voluntary sectors who will be able to provide advice on other benefits/support the person may be entitled too.
- Provide continued personalised support after an individual has returned to work or secured employment to help them to sustain employment.
