Clinical Support Services Information Officer

The CSSIO is an experienced and credible clinical leader who, in conjunction with the Trust’s Medical Director, Chief Information Officer, Chief Clinical Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer and Chief Nursing Officer will define the Trust’s Digital Strategy and oversee its implementation and benefits realisation.
The post holder will provide clinical advice and guidance, working with key stakeholders, to provide direction and leadership to digital and clinical transformation across the Trust.
A key aspect of this role will be to lead, encourage, and support clinical colleagues from Healthcare, Science & Technology, Imaging, Pathology, Pharmacy and Therapies (Clinical Support Services) to embrace transformational change associated with the digital agenda and to act as a liaison between the Trust’s clinical collective and the IM&T digitisation programme.
The CSSIO will pioneer new ways of working and promote the “art of the possible”. They will lead on the promotion, innovation and transformation of clinical services and pathways using information and technologies across Clinical Support Services workforces to support and improve:
- Patient outcomes and efficiency
- Clinical safety
- Integrated care
- Digital empowerment
- Benefits realisation of digital initiatives
- Lead in the translation of paper-based to digital pathways
- Facilitate true innovation, optimisation, and transformation of current ways of working.
- Act as a figurehead and dynamic reference point for Trust-wide staff within Clinical Support Services for digital matters.
- To be an active member of the Trust’s Digital Clinical Leadership supporting the development of the digital strategy, ensuring Clinical Support Service staff’s views are visible at senior meetings. This post will be required to act as SRO for projects that affect the professions Trust-wide which will require budget holder responsibilities and accountability.
- Enrole clinical digital champions, facilitating a continuous improvement culture, improving the adoption and sharing of digital best practice across the Trust.
- Promote innovation and champion the development of a clinically appropriate records and information culture
- Foster digital inclusion, ensuring no stakeholders are left behind as the Trust becomes digitally mature.
- Promote engagement, education, and empowerment of staff.
- Support an environment where all colleagues work together effectively to support the delivery of outstanding services for patients.
- Present complex information both internally and externally to the organisation.
- Proactively manage digital risks and issues
- Responsible for proposing, developing, and implementing relevant policies and standard operating procedures.
- Support the delivery and monitoring of benefits relating to Clinical Support Services.
- Work with the Clinical Safety Officer to monitor clinical incident relating to digital solutions ensuring appropriate action and learning throughout the organisations
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
Digital Responsibilities
- Work with senior leaders to drive forward Trust digital strategies in line with Trust wide strategies
- To play a key role in the creation of clinical digital champions, ensuring excellent engagement on the Digital First agenda - facilitating a continuous improvement culture improving and assuring the adoption and sharing of digital best practice across the Trust
- Drive a digital communications strategy across the Clinical Support Services community to promote the successful delivery of the Digital First blueprint
- Foster digital inclusion, ensuring no stakeholders are left behind as the Trust becomes digitally mature
- In conjunction with the Clinical Support Services leadership teams, work with the Digital Transformation, Quality Academy, and Clinical Training teams to ensure that the development of education and training provision for use of digital platforms, meets the needs of the Care Groups and supports compliance with the relevant healthcare standards
- Provide expert input on procurement documentation, the selection, development and the quality of digital clinical systems including assessment and interpretation of highly complex information ensuring every clinical intervention counts and maximising the benefit to patients and staff
- Ensure professional input for Clinical Support Services and, in partnership with clinical, administrative and technical leadership, translate complex clinical requirements into information system needs for clinical, teaching and research systems
