An award winning, rapidly growing business is looking to for a motivated and talented individual to join the Supply Chain team. Our continued growth and brand strength means we can offer this fantastic opportunity to join a market leading team.
This is a brand new role at Paleo ridge - working with the Director of the Supply Chain, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the overall category procurement strategies.
You will work inside of a close knit team. Supporting the materials planning function, to optimise product availability for production and be part of shaping a new, rapidly expanding industry.
**Key responsibilities**:
- **Stock control and material flow**:
- Actively monitoring and managing stock levels alongside the planning team ensuring spend is controlled
- Ensure forward programmed supply volumes are sufficient across raw materials, packaging and consumables
- Purchase agreed products/ranges, through a reliable and flexible supplier base using strong negotiating skills to ensure price and quality meet requirements and reinforce the brand
- Pro-actively identify possible areas of commercial risk and recommend, plan and implement appropriate action to minimise impact
- **Supplier and Cost management**:
- Actively look for ways to bring down product and services costs at every opportunity
- As a Buyer, you will develop, implement and review a category plan, that leverages the company’s scale and efficiency with suppliers, to reduce cost of goods, optimise terms and improve profitability, whilst maintaining security of supply
- Work with the Director of Supply Chain to develop and enhance the business procurement strategies across multiple categories
- Managing supplier relationships and working with Director of Supply chain to ensure supplier management tools are effective
- Writing and agreeing product specifications with technical/suppliers and negotiating lowest possible market price
- Management of Procurement Procedures
- Local and International purchasing
- Reconciling invoices with the Finance team
**Required skills and experience**:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office packages, including advanced understanding of Excel
- Proven track record of driving change and new processes through continuous improvement
- Proven experience of contract and supply negotiation
- Working within the fresh food industry as a Produce Buyer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar role
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Working with ERP and MRP systems
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Experience of building and maintaining supplier relationships
- Logistics experience preferred
- Experience with protein and meat based products preferred
- People management experience preferred
- UK travel required
