**The Role**

We’re looking to expand our busy Commercial Department with new positions that will help us secure additional work and maintain strong relationships with our customers - the UK’s leading house builders. Join us as an experienced electrician or surveyor, or at trainee level if you’re new to the sector and would like to start a structured career path in electrical surveying that may lead to commercial management.

As the largest electrical contractor serving the new-build housing sector, we operate nationwide, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. Joining a department of 30, you’ll work alongside other Electrical Surveyors and support the Commercial Manager you report to by completing and following up site tenders, monitoring the progress of ongoing jobs and ensuring our electricians are provided with accurate information to achieve the fixes they need to in line with customer deadlines.

Each of our Commercial teams have dedicated customer accounts, gaining a full understanding of their requirements and ensuring that our service is truly customer-focused, despite our national scale. We’re focused on increasing turnover with both new and existing customers and because we operate in a highly competitive market where margins are tight, carefully considered, accurate pricing is a must, along with top-notch customer service.

To provide a customer experience we are very proud of, everyone in the team works in a close-knit unit and we’re constantly aware that providing a great service externally starts with providing a great service internally to our site-based teams. They will rely on you to use your keen eye for detail to translate winning tenders into accurate information for getting the job done.

It’s a fast-paced environment with a culture to rival the positive team-working you’d expect to see on any well-run building site. Working hours are shorter than you might find on site though (39 hours a week, including an early finish on Fridays and no weekend working). There’s also usually no shortage of cakes in the team kitchen or opportunities to socialise out of hours. A strong focus on internal progression means a passion to build a long-term career in the department is essential.

**Responsibilities**
- Gathering information to produce competitive tenders in response to customer specifications
- Producing technical information and full site folders for our site-based teams and issuing prompt updates when required due to changes or corrections to specifications
- Creating kit pick-lists based on technical drawings to ensure we issue the correct parts to our electrical teams
- Monitoring job progress behind the scenes by reviewing reports on fixes completed and identifying any discrepancies between commercial expectations and financial outcomes
- Representing the company during customer site visits to hold pre-start meetings, site handovers and to discuss job progress
- Ensuring that plot extras are carefully accounted for and invoiced to our customers
- Helping to resolve any issues that might result in delayed payment and ensuring orders are in place before work is carried out

**Required Experience**

Opportunities are available at trainee level or for experienced electricians or surveyors. Trainees need not have construction industry experience but electrical qualifications would certainly be an advantage.

**Required Skills and Attributes**
- Customer-service focused, determined to be responsive and impress at every opportunity
- Strong organisation and administration skills
- A genuine eye for detail, checking own work and ensuring accuracy
- Good level of English and maths
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- A hunger to learn on-the-job and build a long-term career with us
- Strong communication skills will be particularly important to take advantage of progression opportunities
