**Job Purpose**
The College of Science and Engineering (CoSE) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to create and expand on opportunities for Science and Engineering students to enhance their employability.
Working effectively as a member of the College’s Student and Academic Services (SAS) team, the Student Employability and Engagement Lead will be a highly visible presence across the six Schools, that comprise CoSE, supporting and enhancing the student learning experience. To this end, relationship building and working in partnership will be a key element of the role. Reporting to the Student Operations Manager, the post holder will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues to inform curriculum development that delivers on work-based learning initiatives to meet market demand and student experience objectives.
The post holder will develop excellent relationships with CoSE alum and industry to facilitate networking opportunities, deliver seminar series, and provide authentic perspectives that highlight the breadth of career prospects offered without bias.
Integral to this post is a deep understanding of the domestic and global market demand for hard and soft skills and upskilling initiatives, and a good grasp of technical and social media skills that are relevant to job market access.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Create, lead and manage a College-wide employability and engagement plan to meet key strategic and operational objectives, aligned to the University and College Learning and Teaching Strategies, working collaboratively with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
2. Drawing on evidence and values-based decision making, lead, develop and evaluate innovative, scalable, measurable initiatives to improve student employability and the student learning experience.
3. Collect, collate and report on measurable data from various internal and external sources and be the College main point of knowledge for reporting and dissemination of employability metrics and KPIs such as graduate employment data, global opportunities and placement participation data.
4. Proactively engage with stakeholders such as local industry, SFC, Skills Development Scotland etc to identify required skills, liaise with internal and external providers to set up opportunities, reviewing and evaluating activities, benchmarking provision against the sector and identifying best practice.
5. Proactively lead and engage with external partners and other key stakeholders to identify, design and embed suitable skills development opportunities into our UG/PGT curricula.
6. Identify relevant micro-credentials/short course provision to supplement student skills base/learning ambitions of students.
7. Develop new and existing opportunities for student work-based learning, entrepreneurship, and industry-linked student projects by enhancing existing working partnerships and developing new networks and contacts with industry and employers.
8. Develop effective working relationships with students and staff to plan, design and promote engagement, organising events to gather feedback from students and staff, evaluating, reviewing and creating actions in response to feedback, reporting on impact and successes.
9. Work closely with the University Careers Service and the Learning Innovation Support Unit to identify student skill needs.
10. Continually keep abreast of the changing landscape such as, governmental policy, domestic and global market trends and initiatives aimed at graduates.
11. Work with academic colleagues and the Development and Alumni Office (DAO) to develop excellent engagement strategies with CoSE alumni, identifying and building a portfolio of networking events.
12. Work in partnership with the careers service, stem ambassadors and other outreach providers to promote current and develop new student volunteering and outreach opportunities with the local community.
13. Engage with School student societies, enhance their profiles, support their relationships with industry and sponsorship bodies, and create new opportunities.

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role.
A2 An understanding of contemporary issues in the UK job sector.
A3 An understanding of issues relating to student employability, skills development, and learning within UK higher education.
A4 The ability to analyse data from multiple sources and make evidence-based, values-based recommendations incorporating prioritisation based on professional insight
A5 The ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising the strategically important and drive these through to completion, including time & project management.
