This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical and professional leadership to the Learning Disability Service's Speech and Language Therapy service. The team is at the core of our community services for adults with a learning disability providing high quality and person centred care as close to people's homes and community's as possible.
Alongside providing high quality therapy to people the service works closely with partners across the community to inform service development and training. The service is also at the forefront of driving coproduction with people who use services.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate highly specialist clinical skills and leadership with the right characteristics to deliver ongoing service development and partnership working.
Accountable for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.
Manages and provides clinical and professional leadership to the ALD SLT services as well as clinical managers, specialist practitioners and other staff in the wider multi-disciplinary team.
To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience, providing assurance that standards meet all contractual requirements in respect of the ALD SLT Services.
To ensure the delivery of up to date evidence based practice.
To lead as a driver for change, contributing to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives to meet the needs of local people.
To independently carry own caseload and be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of adults with communication and / or eating and drinking problems problems associated with a learning disability.
The post holder will be clinically accountable for the direct delivery of the Adult LD Service and will draw on their clinical experience in assisting others in their delivery of direct patient care.
