Family Support Worker

**Job Purpose**

The Family Support Worker will work in close partnership with children and their families to assist social workers in undertaking assessments and investigations.

They will undertake direct work with children, young people and their families which will include building family resilience, assisting with practical tasks and one to one work with children, including life story work.

**The Family Support Worker will**:
Work in close partnership with stakeholders and agencies to ensure the needs of children are met.

Actively promote and encourage participation by children, young people and families.

This will require following best practice around safeguarding, and following agreed policies and procedures when there are concerns that need to be acted upon, having particular regard for statutory guidance on safeguarding children.

Be required to maintain comprehensive records of all casework on the recording system to evidence good practice across the child’s journey and to support relevant inspection regimes that judge the effectiveness on outcomes for children and young people.

This will include providing reports and evidence as required, including potential reports for the Court in relation to proceedings to safeguard children.
