We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Dermatology medical secretary and cancer coordinator to the Dermatology Team at St. George’s Hospital.

The post involves liaising with clinicians to regarding their letter and appointments, contacting patient, and booking patients and supporting the cancer pathway. It will also involve cancelling and rescheduling patient admissions and clinics where necessary.

The post holder will manage waiting lists; undertake validation of the data, department PTL and escalating any issues to the assistant service manager. The post holder must be comfortable engaging with patients as well as clinical teams.

**Role of the Department**: To provide three days a week secretarial duties to the specialist medicine directorate, consultants/registrars and nursing team and provide a high level of administrative care to patients in line with trust objectives. To also provide two days a week Skin Cancer Coordination pathway support.

**Job Summary**: Specialist Medicine consists of 8 clinical areas at St. George’s, as well as Nelson, St Johns and Queen Mary’s Hospital.

This post will be to provide efficient and high quality secretarial and administrative support to the Dermatology department.

The post holder will need to have key working relationships with the Consultant body, and secretarial colleagues in order to provide a first class service to our patients.

We expect this post holder to be an active and supportive member of the department’s administrative and clerical team. The post holder will be based on the St Georges site and QMH site and will be in close liaison with all consultants and secretarial teams.

With nearly 9,000 dedicated staff caring for patients around the clock, they are the largest healthcare provider in southwest London.

Their main site, St George’s Hospital in Tooting - one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals - is shared with St George’s, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research. St George’s Hospital also hosts the St George’s, University of London and Kingston University Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, which is responsible for training a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the region.

As well as acute hospital services, they provide a wide variety of specialist care and a full range of community services to patients of all ages following integration with Community Services Wandsworth in 2010.

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 1.3 million across southwest London. A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.5 million people.

The trust also provides care for patients from a larger catchment area in southeast England, for specialties such as complex pelvic trauma. Other services treat patients from all over the country, such as family HIV care and bone marrow transplantation for non-cancer diseases. The trust also provides a nationwide state-of-the-art endoscopy training centre.
