The Interventions, Sanctions and Compliance (ISC) within Immigration Enforcement is implementing a wide range of measures to make it systematically harder for people to illegally enter or remain in the UK. Some of these measures derive from the Immigration Act 2014 & 2016 (‘the Act’) and are now becoming day-to-day business.
Part of that work requires the Home Office to deliver training to external partners, to over 600 delegates per month, for a wide range of paying customers - government departments, care homes, retailers, immigration lawyers, landlords and recruiters.
The Immigration Enforcement Checking and Advice Service (IECAS) Training Team has created an engaging and clear suite of training packages, in conjunction with Policy and National Document Fraud Unit (NDFU) colleagues.
This is a good opportunity to further develop your existing training and presentation skills. You will have the opportunity to identify the need for new for new courses, and lead on the development of this material.
As the HEO (Higher Executive Officer) Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering and designing training. You will:
- Deliver existing training material on Right to Work, Right to Rent, Document Fraud, and Introduction to Immigration. Each session has been fully scripted, and the content has been approved by Home Office’s Policy team, or the National Document Fraud Unit.
- Respond to questions from course delegates, either by referring to course material, or by contacting Policy colleagues.
- Dial into regular meetings with Policy, for IECAS trainers to share questions and trends; and for Policy to share details of the forthcoming changes to guidance.
- Spot potential for changes to existing courses, or to create new courses; work with the SEO (Senior Executive Office) and wider team to create material that can be sold to external customers.
- As required, contribute to the work of the wider IECAS team.
Whilst delivering training, you will ensure that a professional and timely service is given to customers. You will:
- Support partner relationships (both within and outside the Home Office).
- Deliver training to a high standard and represent the Home Office in a professional way.
- Ensure that Policy colleagues receive accurate and timely information on feedback from delegates on Home Office guidance. This includes attendance at Policy meetings, and providing updates.
- Ensure that course material is updated to reflect changes in policy documents, and comments from delegates and trainers.
- Engage with other areas of the business to increase ISC’s profile.
- Work reciprocally with internal partners to ensure training opportunities are maximised - developing new contacts, and new material.
You may be required to work flexibly across Interventions Sanctions Compliance as priorities require.
- Compressed hours and part time are not suitable due to business needs (delivering training to external partners who operate Monday - Friday.)
Travel will be required to attend team meetings, external partners and in person training as required. The Solihull trainer has a dedicated training room in Sandford House.
**Person specification**:
IECAS require someone with the confidence and skills to deliver training, mainly online but also in a classroom.
**Essential Criteria**
- Strong training delivery skills - a track record of delivering scripted training via MS Teams.
- Good IT skills (e.g. MS Teams, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal communication skills.
**Desirable Criteria**
- Knowledge of immigration regulations and legislation, and security documents - Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
