**Woking & Sam Beare Hospice are pleased to announce the following position**:
**Housekeeper**:
We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to those with advanced life-limiting illnesses, who live in Northwest Surrey. We care for patients and provide support to families and carers in the community as well as in our In-Patient Unit and Well Being Centre at the Hospice.

**Retail Colleague**

A successful **Housekeeper **will be:

- To ensure the cleanliness of the environment in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness 2007 and to the agreed work schedules. This includes all areas of the site that you have been assigned to.
- To rectify any failures in cleanliness standards after routine monitoring has been completed and report completion of the rectification to the Housekeeping Supervisor
- To replenish stocks of disposable items, i.e. paper hand towels, soap.
- To adhere to all aspects of Infection Control in all areas of work
- To undertake deep cleaning duties under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- To ensure patients privacy and dignity is maintained throughout your work.
- To undertake general cleaning duties of any areas of the main hospice building and external buildings directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure that all areas are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
- To ensure that all waste (including contaminated waste) is transferred to appropriate bins for collection.
- To identify reduced stock levels of materials needed for cleaning programme to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- To work as part of a team to ensure that cleaning programme is completed.
- Ordering of stores as directed by Housekeeping Supervisor
- Receipt & checking of deliveries of stores as directed Housekeeping Supervisor.
- To carry out duties using safe and appropriate working practice, according to statutory regulations and guidelines, to ensure the safety of self, other staff, patients and visitors.
- To identify to the Housekeeping Supervisor working environments or practice that involve risk or are unsafe and adhere to recommended actions as a result of completed risk assessments.
- To ensure that all hazardous substances are stored according to COSHH regulations.
- To wear specified protective clothing as necessary to perform duties.
- To attend mandatory training i.e. manual handling, COSHH, fire safety, and any other training required to ensure safe working practice.
- To prepare laundry, minimising risk of cross infection or contamination, to be collected by external contractors.
- To receive laundry from contractors and restock linen cupboard.
- To participate in stock takes and audit of laundry sent and received from external laundry service as directed by Housekeeping Supervisor.
- To ensure that patients’ personal laundry is completed and returned to patients as soon as possible, where patients’ carers are unable to do this.
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous, but not limiting in this position.
