Manchester, United Kingdom The flava people Full time

**Head of Supply Chain**

At The Flava People we know that just creating great tasting sauces & seasonings is no longer enough and we know this because its what we’ve been doing for over 45 years. Truth is, if we’re all working to the same trend reports, industry insights, menu mapping and range reviewssooner or later, we all end up battling for a share of consumers’ attention, armed with slightly different iterations of the same ‘innovative’ products. To truly add value, in today’s highly competitive market, we harness the _power of brands_, bringing them to life for consumers across every single touchpoint; whether that’s on shelf at your local supermarket, in a butcher’s counter or on the menu at your favourite pub.

Working with world famous brands such as Guinness & YO, in addition to some of our own brands, we help to give our customers across retail, restaurant, food manufacturing & the independents an unfair advantage.

We are currently looking for an eagle-eyed deal spotter and chief shopper to come and work with us in our **Head of Supply Chain** **role.

**The Person**

As with everything we do - different definitely tastes better Same goes for the person we are looking for in the **Head of Supply Chain** role. You’ll ideally be an experienced negotiator within the ingredients, packaging and consumables sector with a proven background managing co-packing and co-manufacturing partners. You will have experience delivering strategic focus on strengthening our relationship with our suppliers, sourcing the best and most cost-effective ingredients, packaging and consumable helping to improve the P&L across the business.

Although you will work closely with all department especially procurement, this role is stand-alone so you will need to be a strong problem solver, decision maker, influencer and starter-finisher.

**The Role Brief**

As
**Head of Supply Chain**, you will be responsible for:

- Sourcing & negotiating on key new ingredients, packaging and consumables
- In particular those key ingredients, packaging and consumables that require a long-term contract or are at risk of big swings in supply (from pandemic, drought, war, Brexit, etc)
- Purchasing cost improvements, including reviewing, challenging and improving costs across all raw ingredients, packaging & consumables
- Working with the Procurement Manager to routinely examine and test existing supplier contracts
- Track and report key metrics to reduce expenditure and improve profit margins

- Reduction of virgin plastic usage
- Explore alternative environmental projects
- Using sales forecasts and industry publications, work with Procurement anticipating advanced purchasing and manage lead times & stock levels
- Reduce the unnecessary variety of raw materials & packaging by questioning NPD’s requirements and requests. Challenge suppliers MOQ’s.
