**Key Responsibilities**:
Buying
- To purchase all material to the company’s exact business requirements by collating and analysing order requirements and supplier information and setting up strategic, value adding partnerships with supply chain

Tendering
- Send out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations. Collate historical information and forecasted spend to generate tender opportunities to let strategic frameworks with suppliers.

Supply Chain Engagement
- As required, place orders with suitable suppliers for specified materials ensuring goods are delivered on the required date, are sustainable and purchased at the most competitive rates and within budget.

Record keeping
- Use and update EVision ERP system to manage vendors, Web Requisitions and Goods Received. Admin for Web Req’s.

Supply Chain Management
- Review supplier performance via engagement with end users and subcontractors. Cross-department liaison and engagement on issues such as - delivery, safety, sustainability, environmental impacts, cost and quality.

Quality control
- Passing information onto suppliers regarding damaged, sub-standard incorrect orders along with solving invoice queries.

Industry knowledge & Innovation
- Attend training courses / seminars and read trade press / appropriate websites to keep current with legislation, best practice and sustainability innovations i.e. Carillion supply chain school

Waste Management
- Negotiate waste management routes that offer the best prices and support the best waste management route according to the waste hierarchy. Ensure compliance with all established procedures i.e. soil analysis
- Manage surplus materials on sites and educate/ disseminate lessons learnt to reduce this on site
- Make sure BCM Construction have the correct waste certificate from the waste company

Special projects
- Carry out Life Cycle Assessments of key materials purchased to understand impacts i.e. social, environmental, economic so that smarter purchasing decisions can be made
- Map suppliers to meet the requirements of contracts i.e. around local purchasing, reducing carbon from transport etc.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
Minimum
- Degree educated or CIPS qualified (not essential)
- Experience as a graduate Buyer/Assistant Buyer with in construction ideally

**Technical Proficiency**:

- Growing understanding of sustainability issues and opportunities in the construction sector that affect procurement
- IT literate with experience of Microsoft office and Evision
