**Job Title**: Clinician - Children and Young People
- **Location**:Based near Whitchurch, north Shropshire, SY13
- **Salary scale**: £41,600 to £45,200 (dependent on experience)
- **Working Pattern**: Full time, Permanent, on-site consultations
- **Hours**: 40 hours per week, (approx. split 30 hours consultations / meetings and 10 hours admin) 52 weeks a year.

We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner to continue to develop and embed our clinical offer to young people in our care. Our multifaceted therapeutic approach aims to address the whole person, taking into consideration clinical biological, physiological, and psychological aspects. The post holder will work collaboratively with employees across the care and education services to deliver bespoke assessments, therapeutic consultation guidance, and intervention plans for our young people.

Physis is an innovative and successful provider of specialist care, education and therapy for young people aged 11-18 who have experienced or, are at high risk of exploitation. Our approach is to ensure an integrated therapeutic approach following the Physis Model, to overcome trauma, to grow aspirations, and realise potential for a successful life.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Registered and accredited with either the British Psychological Society, United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, or British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
- Experience of working with young people in a residential settings and demonstrating techniques to engage young people who may be resistant to engaging in therapy.
- An understanding of trauma, attachment, resilience, and ideally the impact of CSE on young people.
- Experience of SDQ’s, Assessments/Progress/Resilience stars (or equivalent) to evidence stage and progress of young people.
- Experience of therapeutic parenting and how to guide teams around the child to deliver care using this approach.
- Experience of writing professional reports and of attending official meetings e.g. Looked After Child reports and reviews.
- Working knowledge of the practices and approaches of other key disciplines, professions and agencies involved in the care and management network, including medical, employment, social, educational, and criminal justice systems.
- Evidence of CPD as expected by all accrediting bodies.
- Ability to support and co-ordinate the work of colleagues within the team/service.
- Holder of a current driving licence and a willingness to drive between closely located sites to meet with young people, employees, and professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of people, including children and their families from all backgrounds.
- Able work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good understanding of mental health issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, tailored to a variety of audiences.
- Able to work independently and use your initiative to think quickly in what can, at times, be emotionally challenging situations.
- Creatively solve problems and tackle obstacles.
- Effective time management to meet tight deadlines and manage competing demands.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Study of Psychology or Therapeutic Interventions to degree / post graduate level.
- Good sense of humour and resilience.
- Previous experience of therapeutic communities and approaches.
- Previous experience of Therapeutic parenting / PACE Models.
- Ability to understand the pressure and emotional demands working with traumatised young people can have on self and colleagues up to the level of Vicarious Trauma and the need to help colleagues address this proactively.
- Strong commitment to ‘Reflective Practice’ and openness to developing models of intervention based upon this process.
