**Job summary**:
This is a key leadership role within DBTs Commercial Function. As part of the Commercial Functions Senior Leadership Team within DBT, you will lead a wide portfolio of work delivering system, process, infrastructure, and business change whilst maintaining business as usual activities.

We are looking for an engaging senior leader with experience of successfully leading multiple work strands within an organisation and under dynamic and ambiguous conditions. A strong, inspiring leader, with the confidence and ability to collaborate with stakeholders, peers, and suppliers across DBT, GCF and other Government Departments.

Your role will be to lead and continually improve the pace of delivery and to manage, coach and support your team and wider Commercial team colleagues in delivering corporate and operational objectives.

You will be a highly organised leader; efficient, and able to juggle competing priorities effectively.

You will be proactive, thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment, and you will effectively support your Business Management Unit team to do the same. You will be at the centre of things within the Commercial function, requiring personal resilience and flexibility, the ability to maintain high standards and confidentiality.

You will build a comprehensive understanding of the work of the Commercial function, to enable you to identify priorities, commission work, provide advice to colleagues across the Function and have sufficient knowledge of project and programme management to be able to interact effectively with colleagues.

You will lead a diverse and geographically dispersed team across the UK. You will be part of an established and high-performing Business Management Unit team who are actively and consistently delivering improved functionality and services.

Some travel within the UK will be required and occasional overnight stays.

**Job description**:

- Work closely with the Commercial Function to develop mechanisms for measuring benefits/dis-benefits.
- Identify, manage, and track all key assumptions and dependencies across your portfolio of responsibilities.
- Identify and monitor risks and issues for the commercial team and provide active oversight of the commercial risk register.
- Manage financial and other resources allocated ensuring that the function remains within required spend parameters and effective budget management controls are in place and adhered to and working with the Capability Lead to develop plans to mitigate resource gaps.
- Manage all systems used by the commercial team and provide oversight of data. Use and understand data and insight to provide strategic, well-informed advice and guidance for the Commercial Director and the leadership team and to support the provision of timely and accurate reporting within DBT and the government commercial function in Cabinet Office.
- Lead on commercial governance and assurance activities across DBT, aligning to requirements of GCF.
- Work closely with the Head of Commercial Capability on all people related matters within the team including recruitment and onboarding and managing associated data and reporting.
- Lead, support and coach your team to consistently deliver and develop; enhance the professional capability of your team, in line with the Commercial Capability Framework (CCF).
