Young Epilepsy is the leading national charity, which exists to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy and associated conditions. With over 100 years of experience, our unique Headquarters offers world class services which include the provision of Residential Services, Education and Health Care to children and young people in the UK and nationally.
**Your role**
As a Personal Tutor in College, you play an important role in the success of our students:
- Enabling learners to take responsibility for their learning: supporting learners to set realistic targets to work towards their goals and asipirations.
- Setting, sharing and monitoring EHC targets with the learner and relevant staff.
- Providing planned and meaningful learning experiences for learners to progress and achieve their full potential.
- Creating a yearly forecast: putting together an outline of the areas of learning across the academic year. Planning course units (if applicable) with the associated Pathway Lead against areas of learning. Providing relevant evidence ensuring courses are run effectively and timely with documents that support this. Working with the therapy team to ensure a transdisciplinary approach to learning.
- Research: visiting other establishments, attending agreed training. Keeping up to date with new initiatives, current rationales and government policy within the specialist education sector. Sharing good practice and providing feedback to relevant staff and implementing new ideas/intitiatives.
- To undertake the role of personal tutor in providing pastoral care to students in line with Young Epilepsy procedures and policies
**What we need from you**
- Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent
- Working with students in a similar SEN environment
- Experience of preparing lesson plans
- Line management/Directing support staff
